Two elephants mustered back to safety

Helicopter intervention saves human and elephant lives

While doing other work in Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park, the game capture team was notified of 2 elephants outside the reserve where the boundary crosses the iMfolozi river. They deployed the helicopter and found the 2 bulls after a short while and managed to push them back into the reserve, preventing them from causing damage in nearby communities.

This operation was funded by Wild Wonderful World in support of Ezemvelo KZN. Quick response is often critical to prevent human-wildlife conflict where reserve boundaries are permeable. This is why we maintain a standing fund to assist reserves with emergency situations like these. You can support this work here.
