Neck snare removed from Giraffe

Giraffe saved with some difficulty after choosing unfortunate sleeping spot

Giraffe spotted with a neck snare was immobilised from helicopter. After being darted with a tranquilliser, the giraffe went down against a tree but the team was able to get it down so they could remove the snare. Snare was removed and wounds were cleaned. Reversal was without issues and despite the nasty wound, the giraffe is expected to make a full recovery.

The operation was funded by Wild Wonderful World, African Wildlife Vets, Blue Sky Society, Down to the Wire.
