Young elephant saved from snare

January 2023
Luckily we saved this one early!

A young snared elephant was seen on Londolozi Game Reserve. WWW NPC director Evelyn Poole jumped in the helicopter with pilot Gerry McDonald and wildlife vet Joel Alves to relocate the elephant and remove the snare. After locating the herd on the neighbouring property of Mala Mala, the young bull was darted and snare removed. Luckily for him, he was spotted early and the snare had not cut in or caused any wounding. A great success story indeed, due to the quick reaction of the team!

Thanks to Elephants Alive for funding the helicopter time, and our de-snaring partners Down2TheWire, Blue Sky Society and African Wildlife Vets.
