Town Warthog Saved From Snare

June 2024
Luckily, because of quick action, the snare was removed before any damage was done!

Living in Hoedspruit, a bush town bordering Kruger National Park, means that we often see warthogs traipsing around the town centre. The resident warthogs have even become our town mascots! This time however, the encounter was everything but pleasant... While out shopping, a snared warthog was reported in Hoedspruit town, just outside the Lebamba centre. The vets quickly made their way there and managed to locate it in the building area of the new town mall. It was successfully darted and the snare removed. Fortunately it was very fresh and had not caused any wounds. This rescue was funded by Wild Wonderful World and Down 2 the Wire.
