SPCA funding for Cape Town fires

April 2021
Funding provided to support SPCA efforts to save wildlife affected by the Cape Town fire

We responded to an urgent appeal by the Cape of Good Hope SPCA following the devastating fires in Cape Town in the Tabel Mountain Area on the weekend of 17 - 19 April 2021. The Rapid Response Fund, with thanks to our donors, donated ZAR2,500 to asssist with the purchase of bandages, emergency medical supplies and animal food for rescued and injured animals.

The Table Mountain area is prone to fires because of its vegetation, but this is the first time it has engulfed the neighbouring university. City officials said a suspect had been detained amid speculation that new fires may have been started and the original fire was an act of arson.
