Hyena desnared during major snare sweep operation

100+ snares removed in a day

This hyena was found with a healed, thick cable snare around the neck. Surprisingly, upon removal the vets did not find much tissue damage and the animal was in good condition. This hyena was desnared after a snare sweep operation lead by the Phalaborwa Natural Heritage Foundation removed over 100 snares from a property in a day and found a snare where a hyena broke loose. Another hyena on the property was desnared that evening.
