Preventing human-wild dog conflict

Feb 2020
A 48 hour effort to dart a pack of 5 wild dogs on surrounding farmland.

In collaboration with Endangered Wildlife Trust and Lowveld Wildlife Consulting vet Joel Alves, the Rapid Response Fund paid for the vet and drugs needed to dart and move a pack of 5 wild dogs off farmland, to protect them from persecution. The pack were safely placed in a Boma, where the plan would be to introduce a male to the pack (to make them more stable and resident) and re-introduce them to a reserve far from farmland to keep them safe. Unfortunately the pack broke out of the Boma on their 3rd night and efforts continue to relocate them.
