Run by the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology, this project aims to investigate habitat-use and factors influencing breeding success in the Southern Ground-Hornbill. Based in the Greater Kruger National Park, Kyle Middleton and Carrie Hickman are the current researchers investigating the social structure of the birds, how group members contribute to territory defence and how environmental impacts/ climate change could affect the success of ground hornbills in the coming years.
