Day 1: Arrival - Arusha, Tanzania (Overnight at Legendary Lodge)
Welcome to the land of vast plains, enormous lakes and the Lion Kind. Head straight to Legendary Lodge for a rest after your long flight, to get ready for an early start to your safari adventures the next morning!
Day 2 - 4: Little Chem Chem, Chem Chem - Burunge WMA (Tarangire National Park)
A short flight from Arusha will take you to Tarangire National Park. Your safari starts at touchdown! Spend the next few days exploring Tarangire and the insanely beautiful private Chem Chem concession, on game drives, bush walks and romantic sundowners on the shores of Lake Burunge. Expand your cultural horizons and meet Choroko, the local Maasai chief, and his family. Enjoy an authentic experience sharing stories and learning about the Maasai culture.
Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park
From Chem Chem, journey to Lake Manyara for a sight of thousands of rose-coloured flamingos at sunrise - a matchless, magnificent sight. Their presence cannot be guaranteed, but if they arrive, this is a must-do. Game drive in the reserve in search for tree climbing lions and end the day by winding your way up the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will be greeted with magnificent views at the top.
Days 6 & 7: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Spend two exhilarating days exploring the Ngorongoro crater and wildlife found within it. An early coffee around the fire will mark the start of your days, before descending down into the crater itself, for a full day of game viewing. You will have your own vehicle and guide to explore at leisure. Head out on a highland walk with your Masai guide to explore the birds and wildlife living on the crater rim.
Days 8 - 10: Singita Sasakwa, Grumeti Private Game Reserve
Descend down the crater rim and fly from Lake Manyara's airstrip to the northern reaches of the Serengeti. The Grumeti is an integral part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Have a front-row seat to the prolific wildlife in this 350,000-acre private reserve, ensuring an unparalleled African safari experience and uniquely private Great Migration experience. Star gazing is phenomenal here - your view of the heavens here will be crystal clear – nothing between you and the vast African sky above.
Option: Float over the Serengeti and Great Migration in a hot air balloon! (extra cost)
Day 11: Departure - Arusha, Tanzania
A final morning game drive in the vast plains of the Grumeti will mark the end of your Tanzanian safari adventure. You will be transferred to the Grumeti airstrip and flown back to Arusha. Connect with international flights home from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Optional: Meet the KOPELion team in Ngorongoro crater and discover how these dedicated conservationists are fostering lion-people coexistence within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) or In an intimate evening campfire setting, partake in an interactive presentation by the KOPELion researchers, followed by an exchange of questions and answers about the invaluable work they are doing to eliminate human-lion conflict along a ‘corridor of tolerance’ linking the Crater to the Serengeti (extra cost).
Or, spend time with the Grumeti Fund to learn about their multi-faceted and incredibly successful approach to conservation in the Grumeti. Meet the anti-poaching rangers, tour their state of the art HQ and one of their observation posts and get to know the Grumeti Fund's most exciting member of their reintroduction program - Eric the black rhino.
