Day 1: Arrival - Maun, Botswana
No better start to a delta safari than a low level flight over the Okavango Delta, spotting elephants and wildlife from above. Arrive at Duba Plains in time for a late afternoon lunch before heading out on your first afternoon/ evening game drive! Duba Plains prides itself on its extraordinary wildlife experiences and intimate exposure to the best wildlife, from lions and leopards to elephants, lechwe, buffalo and everything in between.
Days 2 & 3: Duba Plains, Okavango Delta
Duba Plains Camp sits in the heart of the Okavango Delta among a matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland on a 33,000 hectare private reserve. It is also the place that Great Plains Conservation co-founders, National Geographic filmmakers, conservationists and explorers, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, chose for their home base. Explore this stunning habitat on twice daily game drives in Duba's "Swamp Vehicles", as well as on bush walks and boating safaris.
Days 4 - 6: Mombo Camp, Chiefs Island
A short flight over ths shimmering waters below will take you to your next lodge - Mombo Camp. Mombo is known as the "land of plenty" for the massive concentrations of plains game and predators that live here. These include all the big cats, of which lion sightings are frequent. Leopard, spotted hyaena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, blue wildebeest, Burchell's zebra and more abound, while cheetah and wild dog sometimes move through the area. Black and white rhino are occasionally seen by a lucky few.
Days 7 - 9: Kings Pool Camp, Linyanti
Continuing your delta experience north eastwards, today you head to Kings Pool Camp, in the Linyanti. The camp borders Chobe National Park, sitting at the crux of the important wildlife corridor that straddles Angola, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana. Overlooking a game rich oxbow lagoon, there are no shortages of things to do at this luxury camp to keep you busy! Explore on game drives, night drives, bush walks, catch and release fishing and boating, or spend time at the camp's hide and get up close and personal as a wide variety of wildlife comes down to drink.
Days 10 & 11: Victoria Falls River Lodge, Zimbabwe
From the watery wonders of the delta to the smoke that thunders, Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls River Lodge will be your base while you explore Zambezi National Park, the town of Victoria Falls, visit the magnificent waterfalls themselves. For the adrenaline junkies, there's bungee jumping, water rafting or swim in the breathtaking Devil's Pool! Or float calming down the Zambezi, bird watching and sipping on G&T's.
Day 12: Departure - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Sunrise and breakfast on the Zambezi River will mark the end of waterways safari. You will transfer by road to Victoria Falls International Airport where you can connect with onward flights home.
Optional: Learn about Botswana's Rhino reintroduction program - this is an ongoing project that began in 2001, aimed at developing core breeding herds of both white and black rhino. Enjoy a presentation from the rhino research and monitoring team, who are based at Mombo.
